We will be exploring how a piece of cane turns into a playable reed and what we can do when a reed misbehaves. Topics to be covered include the various steps of processing cane, process of making a reed, and finally reed adjustment. I will be bringing some cane from various stages as well as some blanks to demonstrate, the attendees will also be encouraged to have some hands-on experience.

After a brief overview of how a reed is created, the workshop will give hands-on experience of tying on a reed and the basics of scraping. Cane will be provided and tools will be available if you do not own them. This class is suitable for those who came along in February as the skills take practice to acquire and we will have more time than previously. We will be launching our Oboe Reed Making kits to be used at this class and which are also available for hire.
