Jenny Clapp
Jenny is Principal Oboe of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. She graduated from The University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honors in 2008, and a Masters of Music with First Class Honors in 2009. While at The University of Waikato Jenny studied with two of New Zealand’s finest oboists; Martin Lee and Robert Orr, and performed in master classes offered by Diana Doherty and Gordon Hunt.
Jenny was a recipient of the prestigious Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship throughout her studies, and received Blues Awards in 2006 - 2009 for her contribution to music nationally.
In 2010 Jenny relocated to Hobart in Australia and completed a second Masters of Music through the University of Tasmania under the guidance of David Nuttall.
Jenny has performed for many orchestras around New Zealand as well as Australia, including the NZSO, The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Dunedin Sinfonia, Orchestra Wellington, The Tasmania Discovery Orchestra, The Hobart Chamber Orchestra and Opus Chamber Orchestra.
Jenny moved to Christchurch in July of 2011 and was soon after appointed Principal Oboe of the CSO.

Sam Brough
Sam is the newly appointed Associate Principal Bassoonist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. From 2022-2025 he was Principal Contrabassoonist of the Auckland Philharmonia and from 2018-2021 Principal Bassoon with Swedish chamber orchestra, Dalasinfoniettan. Sam freelanced extensively in the UK and Scandinavia before moving to New Zealand in 2021 with his kiwi husband.
Since landing in NZ Sam has been involved with the NZ Double Reed Society, becoming president in 2024. Sam enjoys connecting with double reed players from all across the country and regular Bassoon Bashes are always a highlight.
Sam enjoys a second life as a keen amateur potter and is on a quest to make the perfect mug, bowl and reed pot.
