Teaching the Beginner Oboist: The First Lesson

In this session Alison Jepson will teach a half hour "first lesson" to a willing volunteer*, followed by question time.

Alison has been teaching the oboe to students of all ages and levels for twenty five years and has a large teaching studio. She has already started ten new students on the oboe this year!

This session will be of interest to itinerant woodwind teachers, advanced school and university students who may be interested in taking on some students, as well as to oboists who are already teaching.

Philharmonia Hall
427 Dominion Rd
Auckland

If you are interested in attending but cannot make 11.30am Sat 12 April, would you let me know?

UPDATES:
We have a volunteer from Aorere high school in Papatoetoe to be the "guinea pig" for this session. He has been asking to learn to play oboe for ages so is the ideal person.

KGE Reeds have donated free reeds for anyone who attends and is not an oboist (eg University students, other woodwind itinerants). Many thanks to Martin Lee.

Please would you let us know if you will be attending the session by Monday 8 April?

First Performers' Evening for 2013

Our first Performers' Evening for 2013 is at 7.30pm on Wednesday 3 April, Philharmonia Hall, 427 Dominion Rd, Auckland.
Sign up by Saturday 30 March if you would like to play.

Even if you are not going to perform, you are most welcome to come and listen to the performers who benefit from having an audience.  Last year, there were some excellent performances.  It makes a very pleasant evening: informal with interesting double reed music to listen to.

These will be on the first Wednesday of each month and will be held at Philharmonia Hall, 427 Dominion Rd, Auckland. All members are welcome to play (BYO pianist if you need one!). Great for trying out exam or competition pieces or just having a performance to use as a goal to work towards. Informal, friendly and fun. If you would like to perform, contact Camille Wells by the Saturday preceeding the evening at contactcamille@gmail.com
